Skateboard axle pins worn out

Axle pin worn out - axle nuts don´t fit on anymore

Of all the components on your skateboard, you will most likely use the trucks the longest. In principle, they can indeed last for years, but they have one weak point—the truck nut and the thread of the axle pin. This is where a lot of wear and tear occurs, as the pin is affected every time the board hits the ground sideways. Nothing is more annoying than changing your wheels and then realizing that the axle nut no longer fits. But there are solutions for this too:

Skate tool with thread cutter

Perhaps the simplest option. You can find tools of this type in our web shop.

  •     File and/or metal saw

Depending on how badly the pin is damaged, either a file will suffice or you can saw off a small piece of the pin and then file down the sharp edges in a circular motion at a 45° angle. This creates a new chamfer (also known as a conical end) and allows you to unscrew the axle nut cleanly again. Important: Always make sure that the nut is screwed on cleanly and not at an angle, as this can cause further damage to the thread!
